Welcome to
     Valdivia Family Daycare

Hello,

I am preparing for a possible opening this summer. If you are interested in applying please go to my website for the interview process and application. Thank you!

My name is Lucille Valdivia. I operate a state licensed (384000643) infant and toddler childcare in my home. Ages 2 months to 3 years.

  • My ratio is 4:1 with only four children enrolled at any one time.
  • Because of the small ratio I have only full time slots available.
  • I do not have drop in slots available.
  • Enrollment is for ages 2 months to 30 months.
  • Accepting applications for possible opening in the spring/summer 2012. Please see the application process below.

It is usually difficult to determine future openings in this current economy as families do relocate and preschool slots become available much earlier than usual. These factors determine whether slots open up sooner than expected in my program. For these reasons, I keep a wait list only of parents who have applied and gone through the interview process.

To enroll and be considered for an opening:

    1. Fill out an application (found on my website at the bottom of the site)

    2. Mail it in along with a $35.00 non-refundable application fee and a photo of your family

    3. After I receive your application I will call you to schedule a phone interview and a tour.

    4. Tours are 30 minutes long.

    5. First Tours are scheduled on the first and third Friday of every month at 6:00pm to 6:30pm.

    6. There will be a second tour scheduled as a 15 minute observation at 8:30am, days may vary.

    7. There is a wait-list if an opening is not currently available.

  • All meals are organic and homemade. Vegetarian meals are a daily part of the monthly menus.
  • I am a member of the California Food Program and all meals served here qualify under the recommended nutritional guidelines.
  • Daily logs of your child's day are given to each family at pick up.
  • Did you know that according to the San Francisco Chronicle, dated August 8th, 2006, "The annual average cost to care for an infant or toddler is $25,439". "For preschoolers, ages 3 to 5, the cost is $16,562. Child care in the city of San Francisco is very costly admittedly. Quality programs are constantly struggling with the raising costs of running their childcare programs.

Keeping this in mind, the ratio of the program and the loving yet professionalism of the childcare provider is vitally important. Clearly just as important is the food served, toys, books and activities available to the children.

Many programs have a 3:1 ratio for very young infants and as the infant reaches a year the ratio usually changes to 4:1 and by 2 years of a age the ratio changes to 6:1. In most infant and toddler programs although the ratios are such there are up to 3 adults and 9 infants in one large space. The amount of adults and children in one space gradually increase as the children grow. In my daycare I only enroll up to 4 children at one time and there is one full time adult as well, and a sub available as needed in most situations, an ideal ratio without the same amount of individuals as in the majority of childcare programs.

Please Call me @ 415-285-2838 or email me. I am located in the San Francisco area, Mission neighborhood. Because of my own background and experience I offer a culturally sensitive environment for your child.

Infants are loved and nurtured through constant attention. Where ever I go in the daycare the infants are with me or put in an area of safety at all times. Younger infants are never left alone with older infants or toddlers. Before they crawl they are either in my arms, near me on the mat for floor time, in a booster seat or laying in the crib while I prepare meals or change diapers. I do not believe that the crib or booster seat is where a non-mobile infant should be during the day except at meals or when sleeping. Infants want to be a part of everything just as much as we do. The environment should be warm and inviting but not overly, visually stimulating.

I have experience with severe food allergies and asthma and epilepsy. I serve organic homemade organic meals and offer vegetarian meals. I am a member of the California State Food Program and associated with the San Francisco Child Care Association. I have 30 units in ECE/Child development units and an A.A. Degree with experience in child care

My husband, Abel, is my co-owner. For 6 1/2 years he worked as my partner in the child care. Abel now works only in the later part of the afternoons, and he is my on call substitute. We both are licensed and have current CPR pediatric training and first aid, as well as our health and safety training.

Please read about us and contact me if you are interested in the quality and the caring energy that goes into my family daycare.
